As part of its 2015 objective to enhance its support to the Syrian population, TSF has this week connected 2 new hospitals in Northern Syria dedicated to women’s healthcare services ranging from obstetrics to analysis and operations. This brings the total number of connected healthcare centres up to 19.
The two hospitals are situated in A’zaz and Kafr Ghan in the region of Aleppo just a few miles from the Syrian-Turkish border. These previously unconnected hospitals have now been set up with fixed satellite connections allowing medical staff and patients can benefit from enhanced services in:
- Paediatric and maternal emergency
- Obstetric division for natural and caesarean childbirth
- Neonatal care
- Post-operation and patient recovery
- Internal medicine, paediatric treatment and narcosis
- Medical treatment for in-house and external patients
The TSF connection also means that the two hospitals can consult between one another and ensure that the women and children requiring treatment are transported to the appropriate healthcare centre.
In its first week alone, the new hospital situated in A’zaz saw the birth of 145 babies.
