Since its foundation, TSF has been at the crossroad between forefront technologies and humanitarian aid, strongly believing that technologies and telecommunications respond to real needs of the victims of humanitarian crises: the need to communicate and to receive reliable information. Throughout the years the support and collaboration with the telecom industry has been essential. For this reason, we are proud to be once again official charity partner of the International Telecoms Week (ITW) this year.
“It is always a pleasure for us to be partner of the ITW. Our presence at this event is a reminder of the impact that collaborations between the humanitarian world and the telecoms sector can have on the most disadvantaged communities around the world. It is a reminder of the need, even more with the challenges the world is facing today, to continue and further strengthen these kinds of collaborations. We are aware of, and we have seen on the ground since our first mission, the life-changing role technologies and telecommunications can have in the humanitarian emergencies, and the importance of the strong partnerships we have developed to meet this need,” explains Monique Lanne-Petit, TSF Director.
At TSF, we are particularly proud of the loyal, close relationships we have built with our partners. Partnerships that provide us the financial support we need to quickly deploy in the aftermath of a crisis, and that can also lead to additional involvement in the form of technical collaborations. “These close relationships allow us to make a call at any time, being sure that someone will pick up the phone and be ready to help with any urgent technical assistance we may need, be it the set up or adaptation of a technical solution, the provision of equipment, logistical support etc. And when we are in the middle of a humanitarian emergency, when every minute counts, this is essential to be able to provide an impactful and timely assistance to the victims of the crisis and the other humanitarian organisations,” confirms Emmanuel Jean, Head of Communications at TSF.
The recent global crises, the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, are showing us the complexity of these phenomena. In response to these crises, technologies play an essential role, but particular attention to ethics in their technical development and operational implementation is also crucial. Collaboration between different sectors and players is therefore vital in order to provide an effective and ethical response. This is why TSF’s presence as charity partner at ITW is important, to further encourage these kinds of collaborations and to show to key industry leaders the impact we can have together for the lives of disadvantaged communities.
