Since September 2024, clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border have caused over 1,600 deaths and thousands of injuries, displacing 346,000 people in Lebanon. Over 100,000 of the country's 1.5 million Syrian refugees have returned to Syria. Altogether, some 1 million people are directly affected by the crisis, and various initiatives have opened shelters for the many displaced. Targeted strikes on Beirut continue on a daily basis.

After months of regional monitoring and contacts on the crisis in Gaza and the Middle East, a TSF team deployed to Beirut at the end of October 2024.

Various meetings are underway with national and international NGOs, telecoms operators, government agencies and the United Nations, in order to identify exactly what needs TSF could meet in terms of connectivity or access to information, among people displaced by the war and organizations involved in the humanitarian response.
